1993-2002 Firebird and Camaro Door Panel Removal (4th Gen)
A step by step guide for removing the door panel on your 1993-2002 Camaro or Firebird
Tools Needed:
Screw drivers
- Philips and flat head
(1) Roll window all the way down and disconnect the negative battery cable.
(2) Remove the window/lock switch by getting your fingers under the bottom and lifting straight up. Use a flat head screwdriver, be careful to not break the window/lock switch assembly or the slots.⬇
(3) Lift straight out.⬇
Don’t break off the slots as seen in this photo below (These were already broken).⬇
(4) Pull off the two electrical connectors. Use a screwdriver for the center one. Use one hand to move the clip lock and the other to pull the plug off.⬇
(5) Remove the lever cover screw.⬇
(6) Slightly lift the cover, get your fingers behind the cover and the door lock cover, and pop off the door lock cover.⬇
(7) Remove the door lock plastic lock slide piece.⬇
(8) Pop off the door lock plastic slide piece. It may be on tight. A small flat head screw driver may help to pry it loose.⬇
(9) With one hand, raise door handle and with the other move the cover in the direction of the arrow to release the cover.⬇
(10) With the cover loose, raise the handle and maneuver the cover off the door handle.⬇
(11) Disconnect the light. Grab the connector and twist it. It should come off easily.⬇
(12) Remove the side mirror cover. Remove the single screw.⬇
(13) Pull it straight out from the door, being careful to not break the small retainers.⬇
(14) Remove the 4 screws holding the door panel to the door with a large Phillips screw driver: The arrows indicate the screw locations.⬇
(15) Lift the panel up and then away from the door. The panel has plastic hooks on the back side.⬇ (See both photos below)
